When Stacey Higginbotham of GigaOm asked Dudley if the DOCSIS 3.0 rollouts were going ahead apart from the data cap trials, the response was surprisingly pointed—”it was scheduled as part of cbb [consumption-based billing] trial, but we all know how you feel about that.

Numbers are off, Docsis 3.0 Channel Bonding isn’t increasing the bandwidth on a channel basis, it’s bonding multiple 6MHz. adjacent channels together that are the same speeds as Docsis 2.0 (@ 256 QAM). Still have to free up some channels or bandwidth to implement 3.0. Most providers will have to upgrade plant to 1GHz. or remove some channels to implement.
